Founded in 1712

The National Library of Spain is the largest library in the country and easily one of the largest in the world. Established in 1712, the library was founded by King Philip V. Today, the collection boasts more than 26,000,000 items. The building is quite grand and many tours of the city include it as a landmark stop. Not surprisingly, the library is home to antique collections of manuscripts and illuminated texts that are extraordinary to witness. If you are a book lover or interested in Spanish culture, you'll want to enjoy a tour of this incredible national library.
