The Station of Eden

The largest rail station in Madrid, Atocha offers visitors more than just a means of transportation. It's an architectural masterpiece, partly designed by Gustave Eiffel, and includes a lush tropical garden, train connections that go to all corners of the country, and a poignant memorial to the victims of the 2004 terrorist bombing. The station's garden, dreamed up by contemporary architect Rafael Moneo, features over 260 species of plants and trees from Spain and around the world, and over 22 species of fish and turtles.
