If you're looking to get out of the tourist zone, take a 15-minute walk from the Mezquita and head towards the Taberna San Cristobal. The tavern is family run and dates back to 1942. English can be a bit of a challenge here, but just take that as part of the non-touristy experience. The staff is very friendly, and in the common language of food and wine, you can figure anything out. Dishes here include traditional Spanish and Cordoban cuisine such as grilled tuna, swordfish, beef tenderloin, fried eggplant, eggs and mayonnaise solmorejo and a great assortment of wines and tapas.
