Compared to most of Gaudi's Barcelona works, Casa Calvet has a rather conventional design that displays a Baroque influence. Rather than the typical color splashes and ornate shapes, this building features a more standard style with a sense of symmetry and balance. Although the architectural plans exceeded the height limit based on city regulations, Gaudi's stubbornness triumphed and he was allowed to create the building he wanted, complete with a high facade and some sculpted heads on top.
