The climate and soil of the Holland Valley lend themselves to the production of some of the great wines of the world. As part of a settlement originally established in 1709, the Lourensford Estate covers 4,000 hectares, nearly half of which are covered in some of the finest vines in southern Africa. Combining tradition with modern production, their varietals are in great demand. It's more than just a vineyard, however. Lourensford includes a tasting room (offering pairings with chocolate or Turkish delight, if you wish) and the Millhouse Kitchen restaurant, with French and Italian-inspired cuisine. The Sunday market has 70 permanent stalls (plus many pop-ups) offering food, handmade wares, art, organic produce, craft beer and, of course, the estate's wines. Live music and rides for children make this a wonderful way to spend an day in this beautiful setting.
