Fur Seals in Their Natural Habitat

This tiny, rocky island just off the coast of Hout Bay near Cape Town is a famous rookery of Sothern fur seals and seabirds. Not to be confused with the other "Seal Island" (in False Bay), Duiker Island is famous for its wildlife. If you love to watch seals in their natural habitat, take a few hours to see a magnificent population of wildlife. There are many boat tours available from the bay; the tours are not particularly expensive and take only a few hours. Be sure to wear warm and waterproof clothing. Although the trip is not very long, the seas can sometimes be cold and a little rough. Don't forget your camera!
