One of the jewels of the South African National Park system, Table Mountain provides a wide variety of outdoor activities set against the stunning beauty of the mountains and coastline of the Cape Peninsula. Hiking, surfing, angling, cycling and picnicking opportunities make this a popular park for locals and visitors alike. Be sure to stop by the Buffelsfontein Visitor Centre. It showcases and provides detailed descriptions of the many animals and plants that can be found in the park. While hiking or biking, you may see such animals as eland, red hartebeest, bontebok and zebra, as well as many of the native flora. An historic lighthouse can also be reached by trail or via the Flying Dutchman funicular railway.
