Just two hours north of the city is a special park where you can see the wonderful wildlife of southern Africa, while indulging in the hospitality as special guests. Located in the Karoo Mountains, Aquila (named after the endangered black eagle) is a 10,000-hectare reserve where you can see the "big five" of South African wildlife: elephant, lion, Cape buffalo, rhinos and leopards. The reserve is known for its Rehabilitation Conservation Centre, which is dedicated to preserving the wildlife of this wonderful area. Depending upon your schedule, you can plan for half-day, full-day or even overnight stays. If you want to spend the night, they have a luxurious lodge and cottages. There is also a spa for extra pampering, after a day of viewing the wildlife.
