If shopping is on your mind, there's no better area to indulge yourself than the Orchard Road district. Shops and stores line this road for nearly a mile and a half, including fashion and accessories, jewelry, electronics, stationary, crafts and gourmet foods and ingredients. Best of all, if you're a tourist, you can claim exemption from the Singapore Goods & Services Tax (GST), which will save you 7% (not too shabby!). While you're looking through the many shops, be sure to take the opportunity to relax and have a meal.
