Dining Selections

Pronounced "chimes" by local Singaporeans, this famous center of restaurants and pubs is a great place to find every form of dining, from casual al fresco to Japanese, Indo-Chinese, oyster bars and even Mexican cuisine. Just so you'll be in the know, the name comes from its origin as a former mid-19th century Roman Catholic convent (originally called the Convent of the Holy Infant of Jesus, thence the name). Even though the sisters sold the building in the early 1980s, the original multi-storied architecture provides a beautiful site that provides an alternative to the ultra-modern buildings of Singapore.
