Celebrating the Performing Arts

For three weeks in August, Edinburgh hosts one of the great festivals of music, theater, opera and dance. More than 18 venues—including The Hub, Edinburgh Playhouse, The Queen's Hall, King's Theatre and Usher Hall—provide the opportunity for visitors to attend performances of classical, modern and popular arts. This festival ends with the Virgin Money Fireworks Concert, where a glorious display above the iconic Edinburgh Castle is choreographed with the selections played by the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. What a finale!

August is a beautiful time to visit Edinburgh, and the Festival makes it just that much more special. If you want to take part, be sure to purchase tickets well in advance; many thousands of visitors from around the world share your passion for the arts.
