Undoubtedly, important events must have taken place in this mansion, home of Governors and, since independence, governors general, but there isn't a lot to say about it as a tourist destination. It's still being used as a residence, so you can't go in. You have to view the imposing colonial era pile through a rather magnificent gate.
So if you are going to go there as part of an island tour, then the visit is unlikely to detain you long. There's no harm in going for a look, but not many people can have seen this as a highlight of their trip.
