The Peter and Paul Cathedral is one of the seven buildings that make up the Peter and Paul Fortress, also known as Peter and Paul Fortress or the Museum or The Museum of the History of St. Petersburg. This church is the site's main attraction and its stunning 400ft Baroque belfry makes it hard to miss. The interior is equally impressive with frescoes and embellished moldings.
Between 1700 and 1733 major improvements and changes took place on the site, including the construction of the Peter and Paul Cathedral which gives the fortress its nickname. This is also where the Romanov family is interred and is considered one of many permanent museum exhibitions.
