A One-Woman Show

Blink and you might miss this tiny eatery located deep in the Alfama district. It’s got just enough space to fit around 12 hungry patrons at a time, but that’s reasonable when you consider that Natercia, the woman running the show, is the owner, chef, and waitress of this place, all at the same time. It’s advisable to stop by and make a reservation if possible since the restaurant’s small size is inversely related to the popularity of Natercia’s famous bacalhau folhado – it gets busy. Bacalhau folhado is a special cod dish prepared with a creamy onion sauce and is made to share between two people, and here it is offered at a great price. She also makes some notable pork dishes, and has a good selection of wine for such a small restaurant.
