800-Year-Old Tradition

On Tuesdays and Saturdays, the public square around the back of Igreja de São Vicente de Fora comes alive with the Feira da Ladra flea market. This 800-year-old Lisbon tradition is a sprawling sea of blankets with locals selling everything: antiquities, unwanted household items, handicrafts, architectural remnants, and everything else under the sun. Among the tables of musty used clothes and slightly usable tools, there are all sorts of treasures waiting to be discovered.
