On the fringe of Bairro Alto, close to the Elevador de Bica, lies Restaurante Príncipe do Calhariz- a vivacious spot to enjoy typical Portuguese cuisine. Although the secret is out, this place is still frequented most by locals who go to dine in a convivial atmosphere. Forget flowery decorations, or soothing music--this place is decorated by the laughter of friends and the smell of meat on the grill. Typical plates like veal, pork, or grilled fish (sea bass, swordfish steak and cod among many others) are accompanied by potatoes, vegetables or fresh french fries. The best part? They come at a very reasonable price. You may have to wait in a long line and share a table with strangers, but the grill here is worth it.
