Whether you harbor secret ambitions of designing the next great American sneaker or are just in dire need of a mid afternoon distraction, The Museum of Modern Design and Fashion is an entertaining and budget friendly (entry is gratis) addition to your itinerary. This free museum occupies an old bank, which has been gutted into 3,000 sq. meters of exhibition space with unfinished concrete walls. Aspiring sartorial mavens will want to check out the impressive 1200 couture piece collection by Francisco Capelo, the Jean Desses gown worn by Renee Zellweger to the 2001 Oscars, and the landmark 1947 New Look collection by Christian Dior. In addition, visitors will be able to view pieces of fashion by famous names such as Charles & Ray Eames and Jean Paul. For those not interested in the alchemy of fabrics there's plenty of entertainment besides, including a beautifully displayed BMW Vespa.
