Portuguese Aristocratic House

Visitors can imagine what a Portuguese aristocratic home looked like during Lisbon's glory days. Ricardo do Espirito Santo Silva was a prominent Portuguese banker and benefactor. In 1947, he purchased and refurbished the Azurara Palace in Alfama, the oldest neighborhood in Lisbon, to house his art collection. This collection includes fine art that dates from the 15th Century to the 18th Century, textiles, silverware, furniture and an abundance of Indo-Portuguese decorative arts.
