The City of Kings

A visit to the historic center of Lima, the Spanish Empire's City of Kings (Ciudad de los Reyes), seems to transport you back in time to the days when this was the hub of colonial South America. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Lima's core still dazzles with its famous Viceroyalty-era balconies and its many colonial landmarks: the Convent of San Francisco, the Cathedral of Lima, the Archbishop Palace, the Government Palace, the Torre Tagle Palace, and many others. Also here are the Museum of Italian Art, established back in the 1920s, and the Aliaga House, the oldest continually occupied home in the Americas.
