The 17th-century Zuiderkerk, Amsterdam's first Protestant church, played an important role for both Rembrandt, whose children are buried there, and Monet, who famously painted the church. The most recognizable feature is the church tower that stands out among its surroundings. The church is now primarily a rentable events venue, but guided tours are available April through September and they provide a pretty spectacular view of the city.
