Rembrandt is considered one of the greatest painters and printmakers of the 17th century, producing about 300 paintings, 300 etchings, and 2000 drawings, with great attention to light and shadow. The Rembrandt House Museum, originally the actual living space of Rembrandt, has been restored to resemble its 17th century form. It’s a peek into Rembrandt’s private life, but also an almost unmatchable exhibition of his prints, sculptures, paintings, and nearly all of his etchings. At the museum you can see a demonstration of how Rembrandt prepared his paints and created his etchings. For those that want to see the person behind the artwork as well as the artwork they created, the Rembrandt House Museum is the perfect stop.
