Engage Photographic Art

Fourteen years old, Huis Marseille is Amsterdam’s first and oldest photography museum. Because it explores the history of photography and the different applications of this modern art form, the museum is a treat for visiting photography buffs. Exhibitions are grouped according to theme but also work as a unified whole with each other. Huis Marseille’s collection in general is gauged to contemporary international art work, especially that of the Dutch, Japanese, and South African. Don't be surprised if, on your second visit, the displays have changed; because photos are light sensitive the art has to be switched out frequently.
