Originally constructed as a Genoese fortress in 1191, the palace of the prince of Monaco had been assaulted and besieged by countless armies over the centuries. Located upon the “Rock” of Monaco, this dazzling palace houses delightful splendors including an Italian style gallery, 15th centaury frescoes, a Louis XV lounge which is decked in yellow and gold, and a ‘blue room’ which is decorated in blue and gold. The Throne Room is particularly impressive with a finely constructed Renaissance fireplace and a 17th century Carrara marble staircase.
