Royal Resting Place

Monaco Cathedral was consecrated in 1875 and subsequently dedicated as Cathedrale Notre-Dame-Immaculee (Cathedral of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception). Constructed on the site of the first parish church in Monaco, notable features of the bright and open interior include beautiful mosaics, the Great Altar, and the Episcopal throne, which is made from stunning white Carrara marble. Built in Roman-Byzantine style, this cathedral is the sacred burial place of the Grimaldi family and other past sovereigns, including Prince Rainier and Princess Grace.
