Historic Reservoir

Yuriria's a city defined by water: Besides its strange little volcanic crater lake, it claims a waterfront on this mighty lagoon--actually the product of a 16th-century irrigation project. Some 10.5 miles long and nearly 4 miles wide, the impoundment is considered among the very earliest colonial waterworks in the New World.

Take a boat ride, cast for lagoon fish (or enjoy other anglers' catches), or simply take in the fine Laguna de Yuriria views from the Embarcadero (especially nice around sunset).

Utrip Tips

*Walk down the Embarcadero and enjoy a view of the lake from the Malecón Lago Yuriria (Lake Yuriria Pier).
