The history of this theater tells the story of some of Mexico's most talented and renowned artists and singers. It was the first permanent theater to be built in town, and before its construction musical venues were temporary tents or held as outdoor events. The theater was completed in 1873 and is named after the singer that performed at its premiere, Angela Peralta. Her presence drew attention to the theater from all over the country. Other famous performers that have graced this hallowed stage include Jose Manuel de Sauto, Lucia de Lammermor, and Ruiseñor.
