His full name was Ignacio José de Allende y Unzaga, and his role in the success of the Mexican Revolution is a dramatic one. He was the captain of the Spanish Army in Mexico, and he came to sympathize and support the Mexican fight for independence. This was his former family home, now a museum dedicated to the artifacts and iconography of the Mexican Revolution, and is the first one to be renovated and restored specifically for the celebrations related to the Bicentennial of Independence. The museum focuses on Allende as well as San Miguel el Grande, the city that is credited with fostering the ideological roots of independence.
