Some major history and some major proof combine at El Palacio del Tiempo. The site marks the former Hacienda Corralejo, established in 1755 and best-known for being the birthplace of Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla--aka the "Father of Mexico," the Catholic priest who helped spark the Mexican War of Independence.
The hacienda also has a long tradition of tequila-making, one carried on by the famous Tequila Corralejo distillery at the site. A tour here introduces you to the ins-and-outs of tequila production but also emphasizes the hacienda's historical significance. A history lesson with a side of tequila is definitely our kind of history lesson.
