Every town has its center, both in terms of history and culture. This plaza is where the people of Leon come to sit, relax and enjoy themselves. Any visitor to the city should take the time to come here, shop the market (there are many leather goods vendors, as you might expect) and visit the inexpensive restaurants, coffee shops and ice cream vendors. Do as the people of Leon do: Sit on the benches and indulge in some people-watching, while enjoying the large mural by Salvador Almaraz, as well as other sculptures and bronzes. The area around the plaza is also noted for some very nice restaurants.
