Hidalgo House

The Curato de Dolores Historical Museum occupies a modest but significant landmark of Mexican history: the last house in which the Cathlic priest Don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla resided before launching the Mexican War of Independence. Hidalgo left this abode on September 16, 1810 to deliver his "Cry of Dolores" (or "Cry of Independence") at the Our Lady of Sorrows parish in Dolores Hidalgo, after which he raised an army that marched toward Mexico City.

The National Institute of Anthropology and History manages the Curato de Dolores Historical Museum as part of the "Route of Independence" network of historical sites.
