The Regional History Museum of Celaya (Museo de Celaya Historia Regional) sheds some light on the city's backstory as well as that of the broader municipality. Here you'll learn more about the historical context of the Bajia region, the region's pre-Columbian heritage, the founding of Celaya in the 16th century, and its significance during the Mexican War of Independence, among many other themes.
Besides its exhibits, the Regional History Museum--opened in 2010 as part of the bicentennial celebration of Mexico's independence--hosts regular lectures and other special programs and activities.
