Taste of the Past

You can learn the ancient secrets of the Mayan cuisine that existed before the conquistadores arrived. And it's not all about chili peppers!

Pre-Hispanic cultures evidently had good taste, as they used chocolate for money, and other typical local ingredients are peanuts, vanilla and coconuts as well as some unique spicy blends that contrary to popular opinion aren't just 'hot'.

The Chikle classes take place in a deep jungle location where your indigenous hosts will treat you to a real taste of Mexico and teach you some key culinary secrets. The classes are small and you'll learn a lot about the country and its people as well as its food in a few absorbing hours with charming people.
