This Roman amphitheater, built in 30AD, is famous in the present-day for its large-scale opera performances. The first of these was in 1913, Verdi's Aida. If you are in Verona during the summer months, make sure to look into the possibility of attending an opera in the open air at Verona Arena -- can it get any more Italian than that?
