Libreria Acqua Alta is a unique bookstore that could only be found in Venice. Packed to the ceiling with thousands of books on pretty much every subject (most in Italian), the shop has a distinctly old world feel. Many of the books are piled within decommissioned gondolas and bathtubs, partly as an interesting design choice and partly as a practicality for when the water levels rise and the shop inevitably floods. Be sure to check out the staircase of books in the back and keep your eyes peeled for the store cats (whom love attention). This one of a kind bookshop is a must visit, though actually finding a book there might be difficult.
