A Church Most Magnificent

Prepared to be wowed. The Basilica of Saint Peter (officially known in Italian as Basilica Papale di San Pietro in Vaticano) has the largest interior of any Christian church in the world, and at 730 feet long and 426 feet tall, that shouldn't come as too much of a surprise.

Decorated with magnificent artwork, sculptures, gold, marble, and stucco, this massive church is regarded as one of the holiest Catholic sites in the entire world. It has been described over the hundreds of years of its existence as "the greatest of all churches of Christendom" and its sheer decadence was the catalyst that drove Martin Luther to start the Protestant reformation. Come see what all the fuss is about. Dress code is strictly enforced. No shorts, bare shoulders or mini skirts are allowed.
