Side-Street Church

An ancient titular church and minor basilica located near the papal basilica of Saint Mary Major, this relatively unknown 9th century basilica is decorated with Byzantine mosaics and features various monuments inside that are well worth seeing, including a pillar upon which Jesus was flogged and tortured before his crucifixion in Jerusalem. This was brought here from Constantinople in the Dark Ages.
