A Home for Music

Truly an homage to music, this 'Rest Home for Musicians' (as translated from the Italian name) was founded in 1896 by composer Giuseppe Verdi. Also known as Casa Verdi, it was created to provide shelter and adequate care for elderly musicians who did not have good fortunes. Visitors are allowed without a fee, though donations are encouraged, and Verdi's crypt can be viewed between 8:00 - 18:00. You have the opportunity to learn about those who have lived in Casa Verdi, as their memories remain in this former nursing home. Some 19th century furniture remains, as well as other personal memorabilia, making for a rather intimate experience.
