Honoring Christian martyr Saint Lawrence, this Basilica is located in Milan's aptly named Basilicas Park. Its origins date back to the Roman Empire, reflected in its harmonic Byzantine features, including a dome and four prominent towers. You'll be able to see masterful works from the 4th century all the way to the 18th century, and be treated to everything from mosaics and frescos to the amazing organ built into the structure. The dome, rebuilt in the Baroque style, opens up the central interior, with several radiating chapels surrounding the main alter area.
