For Sculpture Lovers

Although this museum is often overlooked by visitors to Florence, it is a definite must-see for lovers of art, architecture, and especially sculptures. Located behind Santa Maria del Fiore, it houses most of the items recovered from the church in an effort to preserve them at the highest quality possible. Famous works include Michelangelo's The Deposition (which he intended to be part of his tomb), Lorenzo Ghiberti's doors designed to be used at the Florence Baptistery, and an exhibit featuring the materials used to construct Brunelleschi's dome.
