Fiesole is a small town located on a hilltop just a 20 minute bus ride from the center of Florence. It was founded by the Etruscans and then conquered by the Romans. Thanks to its rich history, the town hosts an important archaeological park and other buildings and churches from the middle ages. At the archeological area you'll find a Roman theater, remains of Roman baths and many Roman, Etruscan and Greek items at the Civic Museum. Fiesole also offers stunning views of Florence, the best one being from the monastery of San Francesco. The easiest way to get to Fiesole is by bus.
