Writer, Poet, Revolutionary

Visit the Ioned Culturtha an Phiarsagh, the cottage built by Padraec Pearse at the beginning of the 20th century. It was his retreat in the heart of Connemara Gaeltacht on the shores of Loch Oiriulach, where he could find the peace to write.

The isolated cottage was also where Pearse help plan the Easter Rising of 1916. An interactive exhibition helps explain the importance of Pearse in Irish letters and his role in the preservation of the ancient Gaelic language. Guides also offer tours, providing talks in both English and Gaelic. .
