This historic pub has been around since 1889 and got a major boost from being name-dropped in James Joyce's epic novel Ulysses. Many Joyce fans still visit to this day just for that reason, but the enduring popularity has more to do with a solid food menu paired with an excellent wine list.
The atmosphere (and pricing) are definitely more upscale than the usual pub, with a decided young urban professional crowd most days. The Guinness still flows freely, however, along with an impressive collection of craft beers and ciders.
