Aptly called the city's 'heart of glass' the award-winning building is as much a tribute to architecture as to music. The structure is a suspended collage of steel-rimmed clear and coloured glass plates and prisms. Visitors making their way under the play of light through this shell are as much outdoors as in. And for those gazing through the glass there is little separation from Reykjavik's North Atlantic waters with its headlands beyond.
