Located above the beach of Paleokastritsa, the Paleokastritsa Monastery is situated on a remote green hill that overlooks the island and the sea. Dedicated to the Virgin Mary of Paleokastritsa, the monastery was constructed in 1228, so it has been a dominant landmark for centuries.
Today, the monastery is home to a small museum that contains books and icons. The road to the landmark is quite lovely with its stands of cypress trees and olive groves. The arched inner courtyard of the monastery is the perfect place to rest and meditate.
