From Her Perspective

Ludwig Schwanthaler designed the colossal statue of Bavaria’s patron saint, a Germanic Amazon woman and the impersonation of Bavaria’s power. It was constructed between 1844 and 1850 and the result is this monumental creation: a landmark in the process of iron casting, and it's kind of a landmark around town, too. If you’re up for the climb up 66 steps from Bavaria’s knee to her crown, you’ll be witness to a fantasy view of Munich’s skyline, while also taking in the superior craftsmanship of the statue from the inside.
