German Language Theater

The Munich Kammerspiele was originally founded in 1911; however, it began its life as a private theater for Erich Ziegler, a prominent German politician. In 1917, under the direction of Otto Falckenberg, the theater was moved to the Schauspielhaus, an Art Nouveau style theater constructed in 1901. Today, the Munich Kammerspiele is a well-known and highly acclaimed German language theater that has presented numerous world premiers and award winning plays. In 2001 a new large building by Gustav Peichl with a stage for rehearsals was opened next to the Schauspielhaus. Visit the website for show details and ticket prices.
