From Banks to Shopping

The Fünf Höfe, Munich's newest shopping center, was once the banking district. However, as banks became centralized and merged into one they didn't need the space anymore. When HypoVereinsbank decided to move in 1998 they turned the complex into a center for modernity. Now visitors can shop, enjoy restaurants or cafes, take in art galleries or pass by bustling office space which light up at night with slowly pulsing colored lights. Fünf Höfe means "Five Courtyards" which is how the shopping center is designed, with passages between each courtyard.
