The Spiecherstadt in Hamburg is the largest warehouse district anywhere in the world and features more canals winding through the district than Venice. The canals all have charming bridges spanning them that make the industrial area oddly picturesque.
There are plenty of walking paths around to explore the area, or a boat trip is available that meanders through the Spiecherstadt's more interesting sites. There's a definite theme of red-brick permeated the entire district that gives it a distinct character. The Warehouse District has recently been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site and it's certainly the ideal location for keen photographers or those who appreciate the historical charm of the area.
