See the Many Facets of Hamburg History

Founded by the Society of Hamburg History in 1839, the Hamburg Museum is a history museum of great repute. The exhibits focus mostly on Hamburg history, but also include related topics such as maritime trade and Werner Steamships.

The building itself is fascinating. It used to be a Baroque fortress, and now has a glass dome over the courtyard. The entrance to the museum is actually from the old St. Petri Church, and was made in 1604.
