Halls Of Art

Originally built as two market halls in the grounds of the Berlin Station in Hamburg, these converted buildings provide a massive, bright setting for art on the grand scale. The two galleries specialise in photography and contemporary art, respectively. They are perhaps best known for photography, sometimes featuring classic images from the 19th and 20th centuries.

There isn't a permanent collection in either hall, but the temporary exhibitions are always interesting. There's a well-reviewed café. The early 20th-century industrial buildings are a striking sight in themselves.
